Meditation

Meditation is described in the Oxford English Dictionary as "to think about something deeply" or "to reflect deeply on spiritual matters".
My own interpretation of meditation is that it is a way of consciously relaxing both the body and mind completely so that you can connect with your inner wisdom and your Guides.
Our world is so busy these days that our minds are constantly on the go or thinking about more than one thing at a time. Even when we relax our minds continue to chatter incessantly at us. When we are stressed, worried or anxious it's even worse and our thoughts may appear completely random even to the point of feeling out of control and appearing completely random. This is unproductive and will drain our energy.
Meditation gives us a series of tools and techniques that can be used to quieten the mind boost concentration and focus thoughts especially in times of stress and anxiety. Meditating for hours on end is not necessary and just 15 to 20 minutes a day of meditation can really make the difference.
As well as calming the mind, meditation can assist on a physical level as well.
Meditation will:
Lower blood pressure - Lessen the risk of heart disease
Reduce the number of accidents you have - Reduce sick time from work
Reduce physical pain - Increase confidence
Increase self-esteem - Assist with decision making
Calm the mind - Improve sleep patterns
Meditation brings the body, mind and soul back into balance and will give you a sense of health and well-being.

"I have just completed a meditation course for beginners with Sarah. We were a group of 5 and were made to feel relaxed and at ease. The course was held in a cosy log cabin. Our first lesson covered relaxing and clearing our minds in order to meditate. We soon moved onto guided meditations led by Sarah. By the end of the course we were meditating with pictures and crystals. The course was interesting and very informative, the course manual was easy to read, with questions to answer at the end of each session on how we felt and our experiences. Great course Sarah, and I'm looking forward to the next one" - TP, Bedford, Dec 2009.
