Treatment packages
Reiki works in a gentle, subtle way, lifting out negativity and stimulating our body's natural ability to heal itself. In my experience, I have found that my clients respond best to a series of weekly treatments over a minimum period of 6 weeks. However Reiki works on a very subtle level and the numbers of treatments that are actually required differ from person to person. This also depends on how many negative blocks need to be shifted for you to feel better. Should you require a lot of treatments you will be advised to learn Reiki so that you can heal yourself.
"Thank you so much for the course of Reiki treatments you have given me over the past 6 weeks.
I have been going through a lot of personal family difficulties in recent times (I think it's called "LIFE"), and although I am already Reiki Level 2 I felt I needed some positive input to help me through this difficult and challenging period.
I have had previous experience of Reiki but to some extent had forgotten how Reiki can help, and I have to say I am very impressed with your approach and also your knowledge. You are very understanding as well as being sympathetic and with empathy, and I always felt very much at ease.
Also you have extensive knowledge in other areas including counselling and also your intuition is very strong, so I feel I have had additional help and guidance that I wasn't expecting." - Eamon, Bedford
The initial consultation will involve a discussion of why you wish to have Reiki which will help me to ascertain how Reiki will be able to help you and how many treatments may be required. You will also be able to have a Reiki treatment. This first session may take up to 90 minutes and will therefore be charged accordingly. This will give you the opportunity to experience the Reiki energy as well as allow me to assess how I can help you. We can then book your sessions in Bedford or the comfort of your own home. If you would prefer a taster session to experience Reiki in order for you to make a decision as to whether to go ahead, please ask and we can book a taster session for you at a reduced fee.
Many of my clients have weekly treatments to start with and as they progress they then move to fortnightly and/or monthly sessions, or learn Reiki themselves so that they can heal themselves. Anyone who has the desire to be able to heal themselves can
learn Reiki.
Each session after the initial consultation lasts approximately one hour, and during each session you will be given the opportunity to discuss any issues you may have, as well as have the Reiki treatment. I will also feed back any information I have been given intuitively during the treatment, which will help you to heal. The actual Reiki treatment will last for between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on what I intuitively feel that you need.

What should I expect during a healing?
On your first visit I'll take down some personal details and have a brief discussion of why you think Reiki may help you. Anything you tell me will be in complete confidence and any written records will be kept securely.
When you come for your first treatment you'll be asked to lie on a treatment couch
fully clothed and you'll be covered in blankets. I may ask you to take some gentle deep breaths to help you relax and will then ask you to visualise somewhere where you like to be and where you feel safe. There will be soft lighting and relaxing music playing.
Prior to starting your first treatment I always check that you are comfortable for me to touch you. Please tell me if you would prefer not to be touched as I will then work in your aura (electromagnetic field).
I use a series of hand positions starting at your head and working my way to your feet. I'll then ask you to turn over and will repeat the process with you lying on your front. I work intuitively so may work on your body or in your aura, or may use crystals or coloured pads to complement the Reiki.
When I feel an energy block I often feel the need to rock you to release the block. This is quite normal and will aid your healing process.
I'll tell you when I have finished your healing and will give you time to become aware of your surroundings. You'll then be given a glass of water to drink as this will help to remove any toxins that have been released within your body.
It's important that you drink plenty of water over the next 48 hours to continue the toxin removal and I'd suggest you avoid stimulants such as alcohol, cigarettes, tea and coffee.
How long will my treatment last?
Your initial consultation will be for approximately half an hour. When I commence treatments on you, they will last from about 40-60 minutes, depending on what I feel intuitively is needed for you. Most people are happy to have the initial consultation and first treatment together.
What will I feel during a Reiki treatment?
Everybody's experience of Reiki is different, and every Reiki treatment is different. You may feel heat in various parts of your body during the treatment, you may become very emotional. Please do not fight any feelings during a treatment as they are being brought to the surface, because they need to be released.
When your treatment has finished, I'll ask you to describe what you felt during the treatment, and I will also give you feedback too.
It's important to be honest about what you felt, so if you felt nothing, then please say so, as that is ok too.
How will I feel during the next few days after a treatment?
Because Reiki works on several different levels, everybody's experience is different. You may have feelings of elation, release and high energy or you may feel sad, angry, or tired. Listen to your body and be kind to yourself. As your sessions progress you will start to feel an inner calmness, a greater understanding of yourself, an increase in your energy levels, and an improvement in your sleep patterns.
Reiki for chronic or terminal illness
As an ex-nurse with a lot of experience of working with people with cancer, I have a particular interest in helping people who have a chronic or terminal illness. I often saw people in the end stages of their lives who were frightened and in pain, and always did what I could to ensure that their last moments were peaceful, pain-free and dignified. Caring for the relatives of the person at this time was always important to me too.
Since working with Reiki I have seen how it can help those who are very sick. Whilst there may not be enough time to reverse the spread of the disease, Reiki can help reduce pain, and bring peace, acceptance and dignity to the situation. Sometimes, part of our learning and the learning of those around us for this lifetime is to experience a chronic or terminal illness. Reiki can help all concerned to understand the learning and accept what is happening. Reiki will complement orthodox medicine and enhance the effects of it.
Reiki will also help the immediate family of those with a chronic or terminal illness and may be something they would like to learn to be able to heal themselves.

Reiki for the bereaved
Coping with life after the death of someone close to you is a very difficult time. Whether the death was expected or not, feelings of anger, resentment and guilt, as well as how you are going to cope, often come to the surface. Whilst it is normal to experience these feelings, if we do not let them go then they can have a big effect on us, both emotionally and physically. For those people who want an alternative to the orthodox ways of dealing with bereavement, or who want to use it alongside orthodox forms of help, Reiki can speed up the healing process by gently lifting out the emotions and helping you to let go of them and move forward in your own life.
"A close friend recommended I see Sarah after a close family bereavement. The Reiki supported me and helped me cope through the difficult time, and also helped me with the stress of continuing my degree course in a time of difficulty. I feel I could not have coped without the Reiki, and since the treatments, I have seen a big improvement in my stress levels and concentration, and also my general well-being.
Sarah is a wonderful practitioner and her understanding, non-judgmental approach is a great comfort. I would unreservedly recommend Reiki with Sarah, for supporting emotional issues like mine; the Reiki helped me heal more quickly following my bereavement, and to cope with the stresses of daily life thereafter".

Reiki for depression
Helping those suffering depression is another area that I specialise in, as I have worked with Reiki with a lot of people suffering with depression, and seen them recover and lead much happier, more fulfilled lives. Having experienced depression myself and had close family members who have suffered with it I know how debilitating it can be.
I believe that the root cause of depression is suppressed emotions that have built up over a period of time; often the main emotion is anger, which has been internalised.
Reiki helps depression by gently lifting those emotions out and bringing new understanding to the cause of the depression. It can be used alongside orthodox medicine, although if you are taking antidepressants you will be advised to visit your doctor regularly as the dosage of your medication may need to be adjusted as you start to feel better.
If you have suffered with depression for a long period of time you may need quite a lot of treatments. The treatments will be spaced out as time goes on and you will be advised to learn Reiki so that you can heal yourself. You may of course also want to come for top-up sessions with me as well.
"I read about the Bedford Complimentary Health Centre and Sarah in the local newspaper. As I felt quite low I phoned to book a session of Reiki to see if it would help. I can't say I felt any different after the first two visits but I started to look forward to talking to Sarah. She asked me to keep a pen and paper by the bed to write down my dreams. I nearly always dream but forget them by the time I get up. Writing them down in the night was a revelation. At the end of the week when I read them back I noticed a pattern emerging.
Sarah is such a gentle understanding lady that no subject was out of bounds and she made a lot of sense unravelling my thoughts and feelings. I didn't really notice how much better I was feeling until I looked back over my first sessions. Then I could see how far I had come. Just before my last weekly session I had what I call my 'revelation'. I had a dream and blinding flash of inspiration that woke me up and my world suddenly made sense. I knew what my main problem was, I could name it and I could now change the root of what had been dragging me down for so many years.
I truly believe that I could not have found my 'answer' without Reiki and Sarah. It is not an obvious and dramatic treatment but gentle and helped me find the answers myself in small but effective steps. My relationships with family and work colleagues are beginning to change already as I have a whole new perspective on life and its many trials!
I will continue to see Sarah for a top up every so often and I am looking forward to learning more about Reiki in the level 1 course in the near future". - Jeanette N., May 2008

Reiki for the stressed/anxious
Stress is one of the biggest causes of people taking time off work. Our lives are constantly busy, leaving us little time for ourselves.
Reiki relieves stress by relaxing our bodies throughout the treatment, whilst gently releasing the emotions that are causing the stress.
After a series of 6 treatments you will find yourself feeling less stressed and more 'laid back'. Things that used to stress you will no longer worry you.
Reiki for relationship problems
Many of us experience relationship problems at some point in our lives. Reiki will lift out the negative emotions connected to the issues and give you clarity so that you can see the way forward, bringing balance and harmony back into your life.
Reiki for Traumatic Stress Disorder
Getting over a traumatic event can take a long time. Reiki will gently lift the emotions attached to the event, giving understanding and learning to the situation. It may be used along side other more orthodox therapies and will speed up the healing process.
Reiki for Insomniacs
Many people suffer from sleepless nights for a variety of reasons. Reiki will help your body to relax and release any negative emotions which are linked to your difficulty in sleeping, allowing you to sleep more peacefully. In this particular instance learning Reiki is especially good as you can treat yourself when you go to bed, ensuring that you are relaxed and ready for a good nights sleep.
Reiki for Physical Dis-ease
I believe that in the majority of cases physical illness is a result of us not listening to the build up of negativity within our bodies. If the negative emotions are allowed to continue to build up rather than be released then we end up with a physical problem. Reiki will gently release these emotions bringing our bodies back to health and well-being. However, Reiki is an intelligent energy and always goes to the root cause of the disease, it may not relieve the physical problem immediately and often takes more than 6 treatments to have an effect on the physical problem. Sometimes having a physical disease is part of our learning and the learning of those around us and so the Reiki may just give symptom control.
I always advise anyone with a physical problem to visit their doctor regularly as any medication they are taking may need to be reviewed as a result of having regular Reiki treatments. Learning Reiki can be very beneficial for those with a physical illness as they can use it to help relieve pain or other symptoms whenever necessary.
