Reiki Retreat
June 19th and 20th 2010, at The Granary, Manor Farm, Brogborough, Beds., MK43 0YD.
Come and enjoy a weekend of Reiki, Meditation, Yoga and a Gong bath - an opportunity to meet like minded people, relax and find yourself.
The two days will comprise of Reiki shares and meditation along with Yoga sessions on the Saturday and Gong baths on the Sunday.
I have wanted to run a Reiki Retreat for some time now and at last my vision is manifesting itself. Not only will we be meeting and spending time with like minded people to share reiki and meditate but I am delighted that Kanti Freeman from Divine Harmony has agreed to do two gong baths for us and Poppy Weston has agreed to teach yoga. I will be leading the meditation and Reiki Shares / therapy exchange. The weekend is for all therapists, and it doesn't matter if you are not Reiki attuned, as there
will be the opportunity to do an energy exchange with a therapy you do offer.
It is going to be a packed weekend, which I am sure will be relaxing, informative and fun with a lot of healing happening too.

About Kanti Freeman
Kanti is a fully qualified Yoga Teacher, Sound Therapist and Reiki Master. Kanti received her first Reiki attunement about ten years ago, which began opening her up to understanding at a deeper level the nature of our existence and the infinite potential that is within us all. During a period of depression and anxiety she attended Yoga classes, as conventional medicine wasn't addressing the core issues, only the symptoms. The Yoga classes gave Kanti a sense of well-being, and the Reiki 2 attunement empowered her to change the way she dealt with the issues in her life.
Through learning to be a Yoga Teacher, Kanti was led to learn sound healing and has developed a deep connection to the Gong. She has a passion for using sound alongside Yoga and Reiki to create harmony, balance and empowerment within people's lives, assisting in raising individual and mass consciousness, and it is her aim to inspire others, especially those who experience depression, into transforming their lives.
Gong Bath
I have been asked by several people what a Gong Bath is, and as my knowledge only went as far as "it's a healing meditation using the sound of a gong", I decided I had better go and experience one. All I can say is, it is an awesome experience, and something that you need to experience to fully understand! Having talked to Kanti and other people who attend her sound healing groups, Gong baths are similar to Reiki, in that every experience is different. During the session I attended, Kanti started with her voice and moved through a variety of instruments until she used the gong, and then worked backwards through the instruments to her voice. There were periods of silence which allowed you to integrate the sounds. I experienced a variety of things, including pain in parts of my body where there were old injuries (where more blocks were obviously being released), vibrations in my chakras until they resonated with the instrument being played, my body jerking as stagnant energy started moving again, a real emotional feeling and then seeing myself on the top of a mountain and then flying around with a feeling of complete freedom, calm and peace around me. It is something that I wish to experience on a regular basis as part of my own healing journey, and because it was such an amazing experience, I have asked Kanti to facilitate a Gong bath at the Reiki Retreat. I truly hope that those of you attending the Reiki retreat will enjoy the Gong bath and yoga as much as the Reiki shares and meditation sessions.
With Kanti's permission I have added some more information about Gong baths from her website to give you some background information:-
"
The gong is the first and last instrument for the human mind"... It is the basic creative sound. To the mind the sound of the gong is like a mother and father that gave it birth. The mind has no power to resist a gong that is well played" - Yoga Bhajan
The gong is a powerful tool for transformation on all levels. It bathes the entire body in powerful sound vibrations or tones, which can affect you at the cellular level. Pythagoras the Greek mathematician discovered the Harmonic Series, which is a series of tones that reproduce the ratio of Pi or the Golden Mean, also called the Fibonacci Series, which is the same ratio as found in the growth spirals of DNA. The gong produces all of these complex tones which are the building blocks of nature and then communicates with us at all levels of consciousness. When the gong is played with intention, profound healing can occur. The sounds produced by the gong are resonant and also dissonant, which allows for harmony and chaos to be experienced in the mind, which can assist in releasing blockages on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level.
Gong healing is very relaxing, and is an awesome tool for dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, fear and phobias, amongst other things.
Gong healing can be received lying down or in a chair and is often referred to as a 'gong bath' or 'sound bath'. Different sensations may be felt in the body as the sound vibrations clear through the meridians, nadis or energy channels of the body, sometimes manifesting as twitching of body parts, and this is great as it indicates that stuck energy is beginning to move again. If nothing else, you will feel deeply relaxed and 'at one' with everything after receiving a gong healing session.
About Poppy Weston
Poppy trained as a Yoga Teacher with Carol Smith at the Inner Healing School of Yoga in Milton Keynes, in 2006 after completing an art degree at Kingston University. At this time she was in poor health, having not looked after her body properly. She had dabbled with Yoga and realised that it was a way of bringing her body and soul into alignment, and that it was up to her to take responsibility for her own healing. Poppy has experienced Yoga techniques first hand that can help improve our lives and health. She feels that she is drawn to help others find their own inner peace and calm. She not only teaches the physical benefits of Yoga but the spiritual ones too. She often looks to others for inspiration and regularly practices Yoga with other teachers as well. She has recently completed a Pregnancy Yoga course. Poppy also practices Reiki and has an interest in homeopathy. She believes that creating our own inner peace and happiness can do wonders to ourselves and others.
The Granary, Manor Farm, Brogborough
